The structural engineers left this pile of broken cistern when they put in those cement blocks, new beam and supports... Unfortunately, this is exactly where water collects and where it was determined that a new sump pump pit needed to be.
Behold the progress thus far:
Getting close - a new leak has been identified on the OTHER side of the ruddy basement now and a new trench is being dug to meet up with the gravel bed of this one... Hopefully success occurs sooner rather than later - then all that has to be done is dig a massive trench outside to run the pipe into the ditch so it doesn't freeze all winter. That'll be really easy, won't it?
